It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
